Remote and online backups across three different offices in sussex.
A medium sized engineering firm based in Sussex needed a cost effective solution to backup three offices locally and remotely to ensure they were prepared for any issue. Each office had a central server which was used as a samba share for file sharing within the office.
They wanted each office file share backed up locally for quick file restoration if in case someone accidentally deleted a file. They also wanted the file shared backed up remotely incase of a office fire, server failure or general disaster.
We implemented a solution using Box Backup that enabled;
Through a simple web page they could restore any file that was backed up. This meant no technical skills were required and they could manage the system themselves saving money.
All the files were stored on our servers in the data centre we utilise in Berkshire. This facility has 24hr security, redundant power, cooling and internet connections. You can find out more about the facility here.
No human interaction is required as the backups are fully automated. This ensures they are never forgotten about or overlooked.
If someone made an update to a file and realised later on it was a mistake they could retrieve the earlier file version from the backup.
All files are encryted when stored and transmitted ensuring all data is safe. In addition the connection between each office and our hosting facility is encryted giving a double layer of protection. Technical explanation:
"TLS (SSL revised) is used to encrypt connections, and more importantly, to authenticate servers and clients with both server and client side certificates. Scripts are provided to generate and manage these certificates.
Stored files are encrypted using AES for file data and Blowfish for metadata." - Box Backup
